Fat Fook Taiwanese Kitchen at SM City North Edsa

Taiwanese cuisine may not be as much of a sought-after tummy filler among Pinoys yet as its Japanese and Korean counterparts, but it's steadily gaining popularity. Thanks in part to the hugely popular thirst-quencher pearl milk tea, Taiwanese food and drinks are now growing in availability as evidenced by the mushrooming of restaurants and milk tea shops. Now, there's Din Tai Fung, Shi Lin, Lugang Cafe, Ersao and Fat Fook Taiwanese Kitchen. The latter is my latest discovery, though I've been passing by it at SM North Edsa since i think, last year. Just recently, finally, I actually set foot inside to try some of their offers and I loved Fat Fook
to the point of going back just two days later.
What's there to love about Taiwanese food, anyway? The cuisine is a mixture of mainland China  and Japanese dishes and cooking techniques, both of which Pinoys have long been accustomed to. Some Taiwanese food and drink that we now crave for include those humungous fried chicken chops, xiao long bao (the soupy dimsum that I looove!), cua pao (steamed bun sandwich), and of course, pearl milk tea! Anyway, it was a great pleasure to eat at Fat Fook not just because of the yummy food
but also because of the sleek interiors and good service.
Here's what I had there on two occasions:

Steamed Pork Xiao Long Bao, P168. (5 pcs)
I love sipping warm soup and am a sucker for dumplings, too. Good thing there's xiao long bao, I can have both at the same time. I'm being careful with these tasty
dimsum, though, I let them cool down before I take a small bite
so as not to scald my tongue with the hot soup.

Chicken Chop Noodles, P328.
This was my breakfast one day when I dropped by SM to buy some needed things before going to work. The fried boneless chicken was oh, so good! It was tasty without being salty, but peppery, just the way I liked it. And it wasn't oily and really crunchy too, so it was fun to eat and not cloying even if deep-fried. The sad part was I didn't like the noodles, which was too bland for me.  There's some chopped leeks there on the tray which you could put on the bowl for some added flavor but still, I was not satisfied with the taste, so, I ordered a cup of rice to pair with the chicken chops.

Claypot Rice, P288.
I loved this one. Steamed white rice is topped with sausage slices plus some pork, chicken, mushrooms and bokchoy. All the individual flavors worked well to form one amazing dish that came in a big serving so it was really filling!

Taro Milk Tea, P118., additional P14. for tapioca pearls
Authentic taro taste! Loved this refreshing drink.

Classic Milk Tea, P88., additional P14. for tapioca pearls
Pearl milk tea without the fuss, just milk tea goodness!

Fat Fook Taiwanese Kitchen is one of those places where your taste buds won't easily get tired because the flavors are mild, never overpowering. There's a lot of choices, too, for both food and drinks, whether you're coming for a full meal or snack. Prices are a bit steep but worth every centavo. Recommended for solo and group diners!
Swing by hungry, folks, and leave happy!
