Steak to One at Quezon Memorial Circle

Early last week, my food buddy and I discovered a nice place to have a steak and really chill out in the middle of a park with lots of trees and a huge play area for kids. It's Steak to One inside the Quezon Memorial Circle. It's been operating
since 2016 and also accepts catering services.
We were the only customers during the time we were there but according to the owner, who introduced herself as Rose Imperial, they have a full house at night time on weekdays and all day during weekends. Now, the lady was a charming and amiable elderly woman who was a pleasure to meet. We had a great time talking and laughing. She even gave us free leche flan for dessert!
Anyway, my friend and I came at lunchtime and these were our orders:

Pomelo Salad, P165.
This was my friend's and she loved it! I had a taste and agreed with her that it's really good! Aside from pomelo chunks, there's lettuce, kani (crab meat), nuts and spices -- all perfectly coming together especially when bathed in vinaigrette.
It's a feast for the taste buds!

Caesar Salad, P155.
This was my starter that I really loved as well. Caesar salad is my default order
when I want a salad and Steak to One's version didn't disappoint.
 It's bacony and cheesy!

Porterhouse Steak, P280.
My buddy's main entree. She let me have some and I found the meat really
tasty and tender. I'd love to have it on my next visit.

Shrimp Scampi, P190.
This was my order which, sadly, failed to impress me. It was dry and the shrimps were obviously not fresh. Ms. Rose, seeing my plate when I was done eating but with some of the pasta left, knew it was not prepared well. She apologized and said it was actually one of their best sellers and was unhappy at how my order turned out. She talked with the chef and came back, explaining that the parmesan cheese should have been served separately, not mixed into the dish as it would soak up the sauce, resulting in dry pasta. She then offered us free dessert to make up for my disappointment. I didn't mention about the shrimp anymore, as she already felt unhappy about the dry pasta. Well, they're forgiven. I'm sure that's not always the case.

Free leche flan for dessert!
This was heavenly! Very smooth and creamy. I thought I went up to dessert heaven and came back right on time to return to work. Hahaha!

Brewed coffee, P78.
I was happy they have good coffee and it's even refillable,
with fresh milk, to boot!

They give service water with lemon!

If you're somewhere near the Quezon Memorial Circle, I recommend that you visit Steak to One for affordable but juicy, yummy steaks. Don't forget they have mouthwatering leche flan as well! I hope to be back soon to try their
other offers. And yes, spend some time at the swing
in the nearby kids' play area!

Ddung's Bob Burger at Robinsons Place Antipolo

Our family was recently in Antipolo to visit our dearly departed at one of the cemeteries there and to meet up with some relatives. For dinner, we went to Ddung's Bob Burger, a Korean fusion restaurant at Robinsons Place in Dela Paz. I was glad that although the place was not really spacious, they gladly welcomed our huge group
of 15 persons, although we had to split into three groups to be seated.
We soon found out, however, that grilling meat was a little different at Ddung's from most Korean restaurants we've been to. Instead of LPG-fueled, they only have small round grilling pans heated by solid fuel or wax underneath. The fire didn't last very long and we had to call a crew for new wax every so often. My sister and a cousin would get annoyed by the waiting. Thankfully, the food was good and it
more than made up for the inconvenience of having to wait for
"refueling" just so we could finish grilling our meat.
Anyway, we had five orders of their Grill Set (P1,499) that's good for 5-6 persons each and included iced tea and dessert. We also had three
big orders of Korean fried chicken.

This was included in the Grill Set but costs
P149. if separately ordered.

Apart from the inconvenience caused by the use of wax-fueled grillers, my overall experience at Ddung's wasn't so bad. In fact, I enjoyed the food, service by the friendly and helpful crew and the reasonable prices. In particular, the chicken was tasty. The sweetness did not go overboard and they were fried to perfection, such that there was some crunch in every bite. The samgyupsal was good, too, as well as the side dishes, especially the sweet-spicy anchovies.
As to the Pat-Bingsu or shaved ice dessert, I left it to the young ones to enjoy although I had some but found nothing really special about it.
There's one thing that's quite unique in Ddung's menu, but we skipped it -- the burgers which are far from the usual thing you can have elsewhere. They have rice as "bun" and various "ulam" or viand such as bulgogi and chicken adobo (yep, fusion!) as "patty". I wish to be back to try these unconventional burgers,
which, I imagine, are fun to eat!
Try Ddung's Bob Burger when you're at Robinsons Place Antipolo
and craving for your Korean food favorites.
Happy eating!
